Implant options

Prefer something fixed?

The number of implants required depends on several factors, such as the volume and density of available bone tissue. At Southport Road Dental, we’ll discuss all your options with you in detail.

Implant-retained dentures

Dentures that clip onto implants

A dental implant is securely placed into your jawbone to provide a solid foundation for a denture. An upper denture is secured on 4 implants, a lower on 2.

Full-arch implants

A full implant-retained bridge

For a full smile reconstruction, where 10 or more new teeth are needed on either the upper or lower jaw, we generally use a minimum of 5 implants to provide stable support.

Before you call

The questions people ask about dentures.

Who makes the dentures?

Dentures at Southport Road Dental are made by our in-house clinical dental technician, Tony Keefe of Chorley Denture Services, who designs and fits every denture himself, so the person who makes your denture is the person you see about it.

How much do dentures cost?

Chorley Denture Services' ranges start from £895. When both upper and lower dentures are made together, a combined fee is applied — this provides better value than two single denture prices. The exact total is confirmed at your consultation depending on your case.

My denture moves when I eat. What can be done?

If a denture moves when you eat or speak, it can be secured on dental implants. An implant-secured denture clips onto implants placed in the jaw: two implants for a lower denture, four for an upper.

Can I still take an implant-secured denture out?

Yes. It stays where it should, and you can still take it out to clean it.

I’m nervous about dental treatment. Can you help?

Many of the people we look after are nervous about dental treatment. We deal with the fear first, and sedation is available if you need it.
